Hi! I’m Dave
I like to make stuff! I started this website back in the fall of 2016 as a way to document some of the many projects I build. As it’s grown, this site has also become a place for me to share my knowledge and help other people bring their own ideas to life.
I’ve always liked to builds things. Ever since I was a kid, I loved taking things apart and figuring out how they worked. Through a series of unfortunate events I ended up drifting away from that path and into media production and writing, getting a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Film Studies. During my last few years in college I participated as a member of a Formula SAE team, helping to design and fabricate a small open-wheel racecar from scratch. It was there that I rediscovered my passion for engineering.
For the things I build I wear many different hats – on any given day I’m an inventor, an engineer, a programmer, a designer, a fabricator, or an artist. Many of my projects combine several different disciplines in order to create something wholly unique. That’s what makes it fun!
I’m self-taught in:
- 3D Printing
- CAD
- Electronics
- Programming (C, C++, Python, JavaScript, PHP)
- Propmaking
- Writing overly-detailed technical posts
I hope this blog inspires you to tackle your own projects – whatever your skill level.
